Our Avem Ajaja Gin is back with only 806 bottles.
Ajaja is a Gin aged for 10 months in a single barrel of Clos Candelayres, the half-hectare property of Emmanuel Martellon (Axel's Godfather). A red wine made exclusively from Merlot in the Fronsac appellation, one of the smallest Bordeaux appellations adjoining St Emilion.
Made from grapes from the prestigious Bordeaux region (Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Semillon) Avem Gins are experimental gins. They are the result of a collaboration between the Nadé brothers, founders of the Maison Mounicq, and Christophe Gauville, Master Distiller of the Des Moisans distillery, located in the commune of Sireuil near Cognac.
The great typicity of our gins comes from the ancestral method of production, generally used for the making of Cognacs or Whiskys, the art of blending. This technique, very common in the wine world, is part of the DNA of the Mounicq House and consists of blending different eaux-de-vie to create a single exceptional spirit.
Our Aged Gin is the link between the world of spirits and the world of wine. Subtly impregnated with the tannins of Bordeaux wine and the wood of the barrel, Ajaja is a gourmet and balanced gin. The palate is fresh, with citrus and red fruit flavours. In the middle of the tasting, a beautiful bitterness dominated by juniper surfaces but melts gently thanks to the finesse of the Bordeaux grapes, giving an extremely round finish and a pleasant length.
The ageing in red wine barrels adds sweetness and roundness to the spirit while harmonising the gin notes.
