Avem Hippolais Gin is a French London Dry Gin crafted in Bordeaux, drawing its unique character from the art of blending inherited from Cognac-making traditions. Made from Bordeaux grape varieties (Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon, Sémillon) and juniper berries, Hippolais is a floral, citrus-forward, and subtly spiced spirit, awarded 14 international medals. A bold grape-based gin, best enjoyed simply with tonic or a few white grapes.

History

The great character of our gins comes from the ancestral method of production, generally used for the creation of Cognacs or Whiskies, the art of blending. This technique, very widespread in the wine world, is part of the DNA of Maison Mounicq and consists of blending different eaux-de-vie to create a single exceptional spirit.

Avem Gins are experimental gins crafted from grape varieties from the prestigious Bordeaux region (Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sémillon). Hippolais, the first Avem Gin creation, is a delicate and floral London Dry Gin. It received a medal in its first year at the 2020 International Spirits Challenge, and has since collected fourteen awards!

Design

This spirit was created in collaboration with Christophe Gauville, Master Distiller of the Des Moisans distillery based in Sireuil, in the south of Cognac. We created our gin using an ancestral method generally used for making Cognacs or Whiskey: the art of blending .

We created three eaux-de-vie before seeking the perfect osmosis between them. The first was made with juniper berries, a second with all our aromatic plants and herbs, and a third created solely with grape varieties from the Bordeaux region (Merlot, Cabernet-Franc, Cabernet-Sauvignon and Sémillon).

Aromatic Profile

Avem Hippolais Gin is a London Dry Gin characterized by fine notes of candied lemon, punctuated by subtle floral touches as well as a lovely peppery finish on the palate.

Tasting advice

We recommend enjoying Hippolais with just a chilled tonic, or with ice. For those with a sweet tooth, you can serve it with crushed white grapes, a reminder of its wine-making origins.

Preparation: Fill a glass with ice cubes, pour in the ingredients, mix, garnish with a lemon slice and enjoy!
